My name is Jason Moratal and my artwork is called ‘Patch’. The artwork that I made was the altering of a shoe sculpture, from this shoe I was asked to re-design this shoe to something that would symbolise joy, peace or happiness for the viewers.
My design was based on a ‘puppy, in which I used artificial fur material (brown and white) to create the effect of fur around the shoe. By using fur that was brown and white it has given the puppy a realistic look, similar to a patched dog or puppy, for example a Jack Russell Terrier.
I chose to use a puppy design for the re-creation of my shoe because personally I believe that having the presence of a small, innocent, playful puppy fills me with instant joy and comfort, and so I thought that this would give the same joy to others especially those less fortunate.
I have always enjoyed art as this is my strongest skill and I have a gift of drawing, which I love to do. I sketch things that interest me, in particular I am a big fan of the Manga cartoon artworks, there my favourite.
