Rawan Abdin

My name is Rawan Abdin and I’m 16 years of age and currently living in Sydney, Australia. I am in year 11 at a public High School and I feel very priveledged to be allowed to participate in such an activity, it has allowed me to broaden my knowledge and understand the horrors of war and how it affects the young and innocent. My influences and inspirations is the laughter and happiness of children. This allowed me to create a clown themed shoe. I chose this because clowns are symbols of happiness and the innocence of childhood. I made the clown shoe using basic acrylic paints, sequins and a curly fluro shoe lace to add interest to the shoes. As you can see, my shoe is very bright, colourful and funky. The colours and concept represent and reflect happiness and allow children from all backgrounds to unite and forget about the pain and laugh once more I hope this shoe can please and allows as many people as possible to laugh and to forget about the horrible times they’ve experienced. It may be impossible to forget, but hopefully we can unite and work together to forget about the pain we’ve experienced. Thankyou for this opportunity. Rawan Abdin
