I chose to speak of our greedy materialistic culture. How we can so easily overlook what is happening to others in our world and the great need they may have for us. The mirrors represent that part of ourselves that is being damaged by violence: the found objects such as the small doll with a foot missing, the medal and ribbon (representing prayer without action of any kind), the knob off the old Fairline truck (1969) all represent waste, greed, and lack of solid value in our everyday lives.
