Mercury. I wanted this piece to have a kinetic feel to it- where the shoes are engaged in simple,joyful activity. These shoes have a little bit of power to escape, even if only for a brief time, the hellish experience of war. The mythic Mercury was a messenger, as children often are regarding the folly of war.
