I think healing requires: safety,protection, rest, and time to create the opportunity for generation (of new growth, of aspirations, of hope, of renewal) The basket is meant to provide the safe place for healing, and while I was weaving it ,I started to think of the shoe as both he and she. I imagine she/he is safe, resting in the basket. The flowers show what might be generated when healing can happen, one shoe at a time. The basket and flowers are made of my hand dyed silks. I used various silks - charmeuse bias for the wefts, china silk for leaves and flowers, and two rectangles of silk crepe for the sole/weft.
